We started collecting sea glass around 2004, and did what a lot of people do and put it in glass jars for display. I retired in 2009 and found I had nothing to do in winter. Our daughter suggested that I take a course in jewelry fabrication. The best course available, in my opinion, was at the Worcester Center for Crafts in Worcester MA. I completed three courses there, each of which lasted six weeks, and started making jewelry. Sales were via word of mouth and our daughter's friends at work. From that it was a very simple transition to this on-line shop.
We will also, as of 2016, have a booth in the Unitarian Universalist Church in Provincetown MA. That craft fair is held every Thursday starting in June and continues thru the summer.
I now have a studio in North Truro MA, from April to October end, and in Uxbridge MA from November to March end.
Ptowntreasures is a family endeavor which involves, my wife, daughter, and two grandsons.
Currently we only use sea glass and sea pottery that we find on Provincetown MA beaches, however, our daughter recently returned from Bermuda with many useable pieces, and a Navy friend is sending glass from Lake Erie. Glass origins will be identified when an item is offered for sale.
Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it.
